Got an iPhone? It’s got a Lightning connector on the bottom, likely to be replaced by USB-C in the next iPhone model. Rumors say Apple might have a fully wireless iPhone with no ports coming in the near future?
How? Chance Miller explains:
Apple plans to release an iPhone that is completely wireless… I see several major hurdles with this strategy right now, but those could be solved by 2021… Apple’s strategy will seemingly be to ditch outwardly facing ports altogether.
No Lightning or USB-C port? Won’t that cause problems? Wireless charging is too slow, restore to factory settings requires connection to Mac or PC, many cars require a cable connection to CarPlay, and external devices need a cable– microphones are a good example.
Miller makes a good case, though.
